TIME LOST:

GOZO, THE FIRST BARBECUE / RAVE OPENS ITS DOORS ON JUNE 22.

Is there anything more fun than a BBQ? BBQ rave! GOZO is a new Cova Santa Ibiza party that is organically built around a barbecue of Ibizan products, a creators’ market and that ends in a rave (in the cave!), with a selection of new DJs that breaks with the usual dynamics of Ibiza clubs. 4 dates spread over the summer of 2024 (June 22, August 17, September 14 and October 4) that celebrate that “Balearic state of mind” but revisited, with one foot in the future, free, hedonistic, cosmopolitan, restless, respectful, fun, open and heterogeneous and starting with a barbecue, like the best parties.

That BBQ is an excuse to share, toast and build a community that ends up together on the dancefloor. All this in Cova Santa and with a line up that brings DJs from a new European dj scene, eclectic and that swings between house, techno, electro or disco. Names like Carista, Carl Craig, CYRK, Gabrielle Kuarten, Kamma & Masalo, Marcel Dettmann, Stacey Pullen and to open fire at the opening on June 22 will be Dekmantel Soundsystem (championing the sound of the Dutch festival), the Chilean Paula Tape, the Hispanic Mexican Lis Sarroca and the also Chilean but resident in London Shanti Celeste, in addition to the residents Digital Freedom and the Ibizan collective Homies.

And if there has been a place in Ibiza that in recent years has rediscovered ways to celebrate while preserving something that cannot be explained, it is Cova Santa. Could we call it Underground? Surely yes, but essentially because the heart of Cova Santa beats underground, inside a cave, specifically. And to remove its transcendence and all that spiritual burden linked to it, we like to call GOZO: “Rave in the Cave”. Furthermore, the link with the island is not only in the “pagesa” barbecue products and in
revisiting the Balearic concept but in the celebration of the Ibizan artistic community by organizing a market for Ibiza creators curated by the artist Jesus de Miguel and called “The Affordables: A Thousand Little Things” Pocket-sized works of art within reach of all budgets as well as other cultural or fashion products (always Ibicencos).

There will also be a bar of Ibizan wines, highlighting the collaboration with Ojo de Ibiza, the Ibizan wine of musician Dieter Meier, member of the historic Swiss duo Yello. Another music legend such as Brian Eno will be present in the spirit of the party, in this case through his Earth Percent foundation, and €2 from each ticket will go to this NGO to support projects dedicated to sustainability and natural conservation of the island.

On July 22, GOZO will open its doors to become the first electronic music event that begins with a barbecue, as a symbol of those pleasures of life that all humans share and that make us celebrate life, and if it is with music, better.
